Basic information

The layer cage system is made with small metal wire mesh which is fully hot-dip galvanized and it is introduced into the ongoing layer project of 500,000 birds in middle east.This layer cage system for poultry is the most commonly arranged in three rows of identical small metal wire cages connected together like cells, hence the name. Further, these rows are stacked on top of one another. This formation is called tier cage. In this housing system, hens have access to automatic management-controlled feed and water

Further, the wire cage floor of the layer cage system is sloped so that eggs roll down to the egg tray for easy automated collection. Similarly, hens’ droppings fall through the wire cage floor either onto a conveyor belt or into a pit for disposal. While the space provided for each hen varies across each farm, to put things into perspective, the space available to each hen in a layer cage system is often described as less than the size of a sheet of A4 paper

The layer cage system helps in increasing air ventilation, two or three seasons in a year because the poultry house close to the ocean, so during hot season and rainy season, high temperature, rainy days and high humidity is controlled by opening the chicken house in order to increase ventilation space. Features

1. This system involves rearing of poultry on raised wire netting floor in smaller compartments, called cages, either fitted with stands on floor of house or hanged from the roof
